What is Orthokeratology?
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is a non-surgical moulding treatment that reshapes your eyes while you are sleeping. When you remove the Ortho-K lens in the morning, you will be able to see clearly without the aid of glasses or contact lenses.
Ortho-K gives you the FREEDOM of not having to wear any corrective lenses during your waking hours. This means no more fogging up your lenses when wearing your glasses or suffering irritated dry eyes from wearing disposable contact lenses. You will be able to enjoy playing active sports, wearing any style of sunglasses or simply being able to watch TV without having to put your glasses on.
More importantly, Ortho-K also helps CONTROL Myopia (short-sighted) progression.

How long does it take to work on my eyes?
After one night of Ortho-K treatment you will see a significant improvement in your vision. The higher your prescription, the more days you will need for the treatment to take full effect. It is essential to wear the lenses every night to maintain clear everyday vision.

Am I suitable for Ortho-K?
Ortho-K treatment is generally designed for short-sighted people. Some people with low degrees of astigmatism can also benefit from it. If you are unsure of your prescription or want to know if you are suitable for this treatment, please book an appointment with our Optometrist. A regular eye examination is covered under Medicare.
