Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a 3-D scan of the deeper layers of the retina (back of the eye) . It allows the Optometrist to see the subtle changes at each layer and to better diagnose and monitor certain eye diseases such as macular degeneration and diabetic eye conditions. This scan is different from a retinal photo, which is taking a 2-D image of the top layer of the retina. Most Optometry practices charge ($50-$100) to have this scan done but at Comfort Eyecare, we perform this test free of charge to our patients who need them.
