The retina is a layer at the back of the eye that captures images of what you see and sends these as signals to the brain. A retinal photo is basically taking a photo of the retina. This photo allows the Optometrist to keep a graphic record of what they see inside your eyes for future reference. At the same time, you can also see what (if any) the Optometrist is monitoring or treating you for. Most Optometry practices charge about $50 for these photos but at Comfort Eyecare, we do this free for our patients who need it and on all patients who need a full comprehensive test.
